Privacy Policy
Effective May 7, 2026.
This policy explains how the FoodCheck GI app (“FoodCheck”, “we”, “us”) handles your information. It applies to the iOS and Android apps and to this website at foodcheckgi.com. We built FoodCheck to be privacy-friendly: we do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics platforms.
Information we collect
- Label photos and scans. When you scan a food, the app captures the photo and the nutritional data it contains so it can be analyzed. This requires camera and photo-library permissions, which you can revoke at any time in your device settings.
- Preferences. Your settings (such as language and health goal) are stored locally on your device.
- Subscription receipts. If you subscribe to Pro, we process the receipt from Apple or Google to verify your subscription.
- Basic diagnostics. We collect basic device identifiers and app-version information, plus aggregated, de-identified crash and usage data, to keep the app working and improve it.
How we use your information
The content of a label or food you scan is sent to your selected AI provider — Google Gemini or Anthropic Claude — to produce the glycemic index, glycemic load, hidden-sugar detection, and nutrition analysis. Yourscan history and favorites stay on your device. Receipts are used only to verify your subscription. Aggregated, de-identified data is used only to diagnose problems and improve the app.
Third parties
FoodCheck integrates with a small number of services:
- Apple App Store and Google Play — for app distribution and subscription billing.
- Google (Gemini API) and Anthropic (Claude API) — to analyze the food you scan.
We do not share your data with advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics platforms.
Data retention
Your scans are stored locally on your device and are removed when you delete them or uninstall the app. Any server-side data is kept only as long as needed for subscription verification.
Children’s privacy
FoodCheck is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the European Economic Area), and we do not knowingly collect data from them.
Your rights
You can review your scan history in the app, revoke camera or photo permissions, and disable notifications at any time in your device settings. To request deletion of any data associated with you, email developer4565@gmail.com with the subject “Delete my data”.
